Annabella travels to Pangnirtung. She meets instructor, Kathy Battye at the Uqqumiut Weave Shop and she shows Annabella how she weaves a child’s blanket.

The making of a qulliq with Solomon Awa and the lighting ceremony with Enoapik Sagiatook. We learned the instruments and material such as taqqut, uqsuq, and shredder for wick.

Annabella travelled to Pangnirtung and made qatsungauti straps (amouti straps) with instructor Palea Kuniliusie at the Uqqumiut Weave Shop.

Episode 4- Bird Feet Basket

Annie Ipirq Shappa was Annabella’s instructor, teaching her how to make a bird feet basket. A bird feed basket was used in the past to keep materials dry such as wick materials for the qullik.

Episode 5- Bowhead Hunting Tools

Instructor Mathew Alainga taught host, Annabella Piugatuk, on how to make a long handled cutting tool. The tool is used for butchering a bowhead whale. Kevin Kullualik instructed Annabella on making a long-handled hook, used when hunting a bowhead whale.

Since there was a bowhead hunt in Kimmirut and another in Iqaluit there is plenty of baleen for artists to make all kinds of art and useful crafts. Silas Qulaut teaches Annabella how to make a baleen wall hanging. Instructor Ross Kayotak shows Annabella how to make a pair of snow goggles out of baleen.

Heather Kayotak is showing Annabella how she makes her cribbage board from caribou antlers. This game is used by hunters in outpost camps to pass time and for entertainment.

Daniel Qattalik shows Annabella the bone game where someone tries to catch the bone piece through one of its small holes. Simon Nattaq is showing Annabella a game called Inunguaq, a traditional bone game.
