Episode 1 - New Connections, Part 1
Gwich’in hunting guide and new empty-nester, Derek, invites his teenage nephew, Jet, to leave Vancouver Island for a fishing trip in the Northwest Territories. Out on the water, Derek teaches Jet the value of processing fish and providing for one’s community.
Episode 2 - New Connections, Part 2
After wildfires and an evacuation order force Gwich’in hunting guide, Derek, and his nephew, Jet, to cancel their trip to the Northwest Territories, the two go deer hunting in Alberta. When Derek leaves the hunt early, Jet is left to his own devices.
Episode 3 - Fathers and Daughters
After successful hunts in the past to provide food for her community, Geri-Lee of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun flies out on a hunting trip with her father to the land he used to guide on. It becomes a family hunt when her cousin and his daughter join.
Episode 4 - Student and Teacher
Southern Tutchone school teacher, Sherri, flies out for her first big game hunt deep in the Yukon wilds with her son, Evan, and hunting guide, Ed. Typically the caregiver in her family, Sherri takes the hunt as an opportunity to provide food for her community.
Episode 5 - Healing Circle
Cree Elder, Annette, meets some old friends, including Yukon guides, Scott and Wojo, for a deer hunting trip in snowy Saskatchewan. She quickly realizes this is not just a hunting trip, but a journey of personal healing and grief.
Episode 6 - k̓wséltkten (Family), Part 1
Secwépemc hunting guide, Ed, takes on a very special client: his daughter, Tessa. After growing up in the city, Tessa asks her dad to take her out on their traditional land for her first hunt, so she can learn about culture and provide for their community.
Episode 7 - k̓wséltkten (Family), Part 2
Ed’s journey continues with a special hunt in Alberta alongside his father, Ted. After spending time in the Badlands, Ed travels back to British Columbia for a bridge-building trip with Chief Francis. The two friends hunt to provide food for those in need.
Episode 8 - k̓wséltkten (Family), Part 3
Ed returns to his home community of Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc to take Ryder, a young local boy, out on the land. After having mentored Ryder’s parents on traditional hunting, Ed is now looking to share cultural knowledge with their young boys.
Episode 9 - Strength in Numbers, Part 1
Guide-in-training, Brett, has an opportunity to meet his biological mother for the first time and uncover why she put him up for adoption but kept his siblings. Brett then goes hunting on his traditional land to provide food for the community.
Episode 10 - Strength in Numbers, Part 2
After connecting with his biological mother and visiting the Bloodvein community, Brett returns to his adoptive home in Cranbrook, B.C., to talk about his findings with his adoptive parents and confront unspoken tensions head-on.
Episode 11 - Full Circle, Part 1
Gwich’in artist and fashion designer, Naomi, is making a name for herself by creating beautiful pieces that incorporate elements of nature. She decides to travel to her ancestral land with hunting guide, Derek, for her first big game hunt.
Episode 12 - Full Circle, Part 2
As Gwich’in artist, Naomi, completes her hunt, her daughter heads out for her own first big game. Guided by Derek in the volatile Northwest Territories, they are at the mercy of the severe and endlessly changing weather patterns.
Episode 13 - Season Three: Reflections
In this retrospective episode, the hunters and guides reflect on their journeys from the past season. From the Yukon wilds to the Northwest Territories and beyond, we check in with the hunters in the present day as they share stories of their time on the land.
