Stranded in California with no ride or cash, the Rez Dogs find Bear’s dad’s house only to realize he’s not home. Lost and alone, Bear learns a secret: Elora’s dad is alive... and he’s white.

Lost, dehydrated and sunburnt, Bear is attacked by a conquistador spirit and saved by William Knifeman – only to tell him off. Enter Maximus, a dune-buggy-driving recluse who believes in star people and sees spirits. As they bond, old wounds surface.

Deer Lady stops at a diner where she sees Bear who is lost, broke and kind despite being ignored. She shares her meal and offers him a ride home. Flashbacks reveal her tragic past at an abusive boarding school and her transformation into a spirit of vengeance.

At the IHS Clinic, the Rez Dogs are punished for running off to California. Willie Jack and Cheese are tasked with cleaning graffiti while Elora cleans with her dad. Bear is stuck with Jackie, who didn’t even go to California.

It is the end of the school year. Maximus (who prefers to be called Cvpon) is filming his friends, making home movies. They go to a party by a lake where they smoke marijuana, drink and take LSD. They imagine the types of futures they want for themselves.

Cheese withdraws from his friends, spending days gaming alone. Worried, Grandma Irene calls in the "uncles” who drag a reluctant Cheese on a camping trip. At first, he struggles with being out in the wild but soon opens up about his fear of being left behind.

Rita considers a higher-paying job away from Okern when the spirit of her late friend Cookie appears. Shaken, she turns to therapist Larry, who dismisses her vision and talks about his own trauma instead.

The Rez Dogs, NDN Mafia and Kenny Boy are questioned by Big, while at an Elder’s breakfast. Fixico and Irene reflect on their past, especially Fixico’s unresolved rift with Maximus. After Fixico has a heart attack, the Rez Dogs decide to reunite the cousins.

Elora visits a college but needs her absent father's info for financial aid. She tracks him down, insisting she only wants paperwork, not a relationship. He shares a photo from her first birthday and introduces her to her half-siblings.

The community gathers for Old Man Fixico’s funeral, with the Rez Dogs and familiar faces gathering to honour him. Elders oversee the meal, meanwhile Elora tells Bear she’s leaving for college.
